March 3, 2014 - Pearland Family Wins the UTI Toyota Tacoma Sweepstakes

The Universal Technical Institute (UTI) presented Pearland, Texas resident Don S. Long and his family a new 2013 Toyota Tacoma in front of 70,000 people during the Houston Monster Jam at Reliant Stadium on Feb. 1, 2014.

Long entered the UTI Toyota Tacoma Sweepstakes while attending a 2013 Supercross event in Houston. He was randomly selected in November from 65,000 entries as the winner of the Tacoma, which was donated by UTI. Long and his wife, Dianne, along with his children, Payton and Drew, accepted their new vehicle after riding in a ceremonious parade lap with Monster Jam legend George Belhan.

More than just fans, the Long family actively participates in motorsport events around the state. Long’s son, Drew, races motocross in Texas in support of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

“UTI couldn’t have asked for a more deserving family to win this tricked-out Tacoma,” Dan Poor, UTI-Houston local marketing manager said. “Monster Jam set the perfect stage to present this family their new truck.”

Designed by Neil Tjin, who is known for his high-horsepower sports cars, this one-of-a-kind Toyota Tacoma drew a lot of attention during the promotion while on display at various tracks. Several product partners stepped up to make this truck unique, including  a custom exhaust from MagnaFlow, Nitto tires and Method Race Wheels, a Webasto sunroof and Katzkin Interior.

Universal Technical Institute is now working with Neil Tjin  to develop the 2014 Custom Gulf Ford Focus ST, which will be the prize in the next UTI sweepstakes. Anyone can enter for a chance to win the UTI Gulf Racing Edition Ford Focus ST Sweepstakes, at UTI.edu/focus.
