March 26, 2014 - Universal Technical Institute Students Receive New Training Aid

Recently, the Universal Technical Institute (UTI) Houston campus was presented with a diesel truck provided by Grocers Supply that will enhance learning opportunities for students in their classes.

UTI-Houston happily accepted the 2009 Kenworth diesel truck, valued at $37,500, as a new training aid in Diesel Fuel Systems and Diesel Engine Accessories courses as well as for Cummins elective courses. Training aids of this sort provide variety and value to UTI courses, giving students the opportunity to work on real-life scenarios and products.

“When a company donates to UTI, we know it is a sign of appreciation that we’re doing right by the industry,” Darrin Brust, campus president said. “We are proud that an employer wants to partner with us to give the students the best opportunity possible to be successful in the field.”

A supporter of the UTI-Houston diesel program, Mike Buck of Grocers Supply presented the truck knowing it would add value to courses. Grocers Supply actively hires UTI students both as part-time and full-time employees. The donation also assists the company with creating brand awareness on campus and helps make students aware of potential employment opportunities with Grocers Supply.
