April 30, 2014 - Rochester-Area Technician Honored With Statewide Golden Wrench Award

Henrietta, NY – Regional International Corp. technician, Jeremy “Bo” Colf, was recently awarded the New York State Motor Truck Association’s (NYSMTA) 2013 Statewide Golden Wrench Award. The Golden Wrench Award (GWA) was designed to recognize and honor the best heavy vehicle technicians in New York state.

Colf received his training at Universal Technical Institute (UTI), the leading provider of post-secondary education for students seeking careers as professional automotive, diesel, collision repair, motorcycle and marine technicians. Originally from Rushville, NY, he graduated from the Glendale Heights, Ill., campus in 1992, where he was a student in the automotive and diesel technology programs.

“Thanks to the skills I learned at UTI, I’ve been fortunate to have more than just a job – I’m in a profession I love. This is a great achievement and I owe a huge thank you to all my employers over the years who gave me the opportunities to advance my skill set, as well my instructors at UTI and in high school,” said Colf.

The GWA was established to recognize the outstanding efforts, achievements and outside contributions of those who work behind-the-scenes to ensure that commercial motor vehicles are safe on the road. Member companies nominated technicians they feel exemplify professionalism, a commitment to safety and professional development, and who set an example for others both in and outside their field.

“We are thrilled Bo was honored with this prestigious award,” said Julie Mueller, campus president of UTI Lisle. “Our focus is to provide students with the skills to be successful in the industry.  It is always rewarding to hear about alumni like Bo who continue to perform and be recognized as leaders in their field.”

Colf recently celebrated three years at Regional International Corp. This is only his fourth job since graduating 22 years ago. Colf is a previous Genesee Region Golden Wrench Award recipient and placed second in the NYS SuperTech Tire Competition in 2013.

Colf has three children and currently resides in Irondequoit, NY.
