February 23, 2015 - Future Technicians Get Behind-the-Scenes Career Advice

How can you succeed as an automotive technician in today’s high-tech industry? More than 120 aspiring technicians and their families found out October 22 at Universal Technical Institute – Rancho Cucamonga’s “Future Tech Night.” at Longo Toyota. 
 
The Rancho Cucamonga campus partnered with Longo Toyota in El Monte to offer a behind-the-scenes look into today’s automotive careers. UTI graduates and current Longo Toyota employees Bret Godfrey, Jr. and Arnulfo Mata gave attendees an inside look into their careers.. 
 
From fixing mechanical issues to applying their technical knowledge to resolve computer-based repairs, Godfrey and Mata shared how UTI prepared them for the real world and how they are succeeding as lead technicians at Longo. 
 
In addition to asking one-on-one questions to Godfrey and Mata, attendees toured Longo Toyota’s state-of-the-industry shop, including the dealership’s own training facility, Penske College. These aspiring technicians learned what it’s like to work as a technician at a premium automotive repair facility and the skills necessary to succeed.
