Universal Technical Institute Foundation Partners With Star Motorsports To Launch Star Track Scholarship Program At NASCAR Technical Institute
Funds Available to Encourage Minorities and Women into Motor Sports Industry

PHOENIX - In an effort to promote diversity and multi-cultural inclusion throughout the motor sports industry, Universal Technical Institute (UTI) Foundation and STAR Motorsports LLC are launching STAR TRACK Scholarship Program to provide scholarships throughout 2008 for students attending UTI’s NASCAR Technical Institute (NASCAR Tech) in Mooresville, NC.

STAR Motorsports LLC is a worldwide comprehensive motor sports, entertainment and lifestyle company. Through its Educational and Developmental Division, STAR TRACK, STAR Motorsports is offering five scholarships to qualifying students starting in January 2008 at NASCAR Tech and five more throughout the year.

“Our goal is encouraging more women and minorities to attend NASCAR Tech and join the vibrant NASCAR community by providing scholarship aid to students. I believe the quality training offered at NASCAR Tech can make dreams come true for students pursuing technical careers.” said Sean Holley, president and CEO of STAR Motorsports. “As STAR Motorsports diligently develops a strong performance-based NASCAR team, we are simultaneously focused on increasing awareness and empowering women and minorities in regards to NASCAR. We are doing this through STAR TRACK, which is anchored by our relationship with UTI/NASCAR Tech and our racing schools.”

NASCAR Tech, a division of Universal Technical Institute, Inc., has an exclusive educational alliance with NASCAR. NASCAR Tech is the only school of its kind that combines UTI’s automotive training and a NASCAR-approved technologies curriculum into one program. After completing the core curriculum, students can go on to learn the basics of engine construction, chassis fabrication, NASCAR racing theory principles, rules and regulations and Pit Crew.

“These scholarships will help our students by bridging the gap between federal funding and the cost of tuition,” said Don Ableson, president and chairman of the UTI Foundation Board. “We are pleased that executives, such as Sean Holley, are taking the lead to help address this issue, while also promoting diversity. It is a win-win opportunity.”

Applications will be available online at the UTI Foundation web site, www.utifoundation.net.  Selections will be made by the UTI Scholarship committee. For additional information contact the UTI Foundation office at 623-445-9500.
