Starting as a part-time receptionist, she has been with UTI for 27 years and served in numerous leadership roles including VP Sales and Marketing and President between 2000 and 2010. Her leadership in the automotive industry extends beyond UTI, as she also serves on the board of the Penske Automotive Group, an international automotive retailer and member of the Fortune 500 and Russell 1000.

An advocate for community service, McWaters chairs the Board of the Directors of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Phoenix and sits on the executive committee of the Fresh Start Women's Foundation. "Distinguished Women this year, as well as all honorees during the past 42 years, are passionate about their impactful roles in our communities and ensuring students are given the best possible opportunity to advance their higher education and career goals," said Mary Frazier, director of advancement at Northwood's Texas Campus.

In 1970 the Northwood University Board of Trustees, under the inspiration of its founders Dr. Arthur E. Turner and Dr. R.
