Universal Technical Institute Partnering with American Red Cross for Blood Drive on May 8
-- UTI-Exton Campus Helping to Ensure Stable Red Cross Blood Supply --

EXTON, Pa., May 6, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Universal Technical Institute (UTI) is teaming up with the American Red Cross to host a blood drive on Wednesday, May 8 at UTI's Exton campus at 750 Pennsylvania Drive. The blood drive is scheduled to run from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with food, raffle prizes, music and activities from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. All presenting blood donors will receive a special event T-shirt and much more.

"We thank UTI for helping to save lives in our community and hope to turn many students and surrounding community members into life-saving blood donors," said Anthony C. Tornetta, communications manager for the American Red Cross. "The upcoming blood drive will play a big part in helping the Red Cross continue to build a stable blood supply as the summer months approach."

UTI-Exton hosts five blood drives per year. Since 2011, the campus has hosted more than 20 blood drives and collected more than 1,720 pints of blood.

"In partnering with the Red Cross, we hope to demonstrate our commitment to the local community and illustrate to our students the importance of giving back."

Potential donors must be at least 17 years of age, or 16 in some states with parental consent, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Donors under the age of 19 may need to meet additional height and weight requirements. Donors can give blood every eight weeks and are urged to donate during the summer months.
