NASCAR Technical Institute Hosts 22nd Annual Stocks-For-Tots Event
NASCAR Tech partners with SCAN to help raise awareness for child abuse and prevention

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - NASCAR Technical Institute (NASCAR Tech) hosted the 22nd annual Stocks-For-Tots event on Tuesday, Dec. 7. More than 1,000 guests attended and NASCAR Tech raised more than $5,000 for Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN), a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping children, supporting parents and improving the community.

“The event attracts race fans from all over the country and NTI is the perfect location,” said John Dodson, NASCAR Tech’s Director of NASCAR Relations. “It isn’t about who drives a Ford or Toyota or who sponsors whom, it’s about coming together to help those in need.”

Racing personalities donated their time to sign autographs, including drivers, crew chiefs and retired racing legends from NASCAR and NHRA, like Bobby Allison and Kurt Busch.

Stocks-For-Tots was created as a way to bring together stock car racing and its fans, while raising awareness for the prevalence of child abuse in North Carolina. The first fundraiser was held Dec. 1989, and since then the annual event has raised more than $850,000, and distributed nearly 50,000 toys to children in the area.

Retired Penske Racing South president Don Miller, and chairman of the Stocks-For-Tots foundation, presented SCAN with a check for $10,000 during the event.

This was also the first year the event had a racing memorabilia store, where fans purchased items such as autographed sheet metal, wheels, and crew shirts that were donated from several NASCAR teams.
